All Deck & Engine Officers (i.e. Master, C/O,2/O,3/O, J/O,C/E.2/E,3/E,4/E all with COC + TASCO and atleast 3 months on tankers)

The purpose of the course is to assist teaching staff in organizing and enhancing, updating or supplementing existing training material where the quality and effectiveness of the training courses may thereby be complemented. The effort is to enhance the knowledge of shipboard Deck Officers who sail on specialized carriers such as an oil tankers. It is not the intention of the course to compartmentalize the trainee’s way of thinking in terms of oil tanker operation. The idea is to make him / her aware of executing the operations specific to an oil tanker in a safe way and sensitize him/her towards the responsibilities that s/he will face on such a vessel. This course is for Deck and Engineer Officers on board oil tankers who have been trained for the cargo and equipment handling. By successfully doing an Oil tanker familiarization course and/or the Specialized Training in Oil Tanker Opera-tions course. The coverage of the course is restricted in scope and includes additional aspects of training in Hot Work, Precautions During Cargo Work and Vetting. The course also covers the Operator and management level aspects on board by including a section on practical’s in safe tanker operations.
